How home decor pricing actually works

We Don't Sell Packages.
We Explain What Things Cost.

Most decorators bundle services into vague tiers. We believe you deserve to see exactly where every pound goes — from the first fabric swatch to the final cushion placement. This page is your pricing education.

"They showed us the cost of each element separately. No surprises at all." — D. Hargreaves, Swansea

The Pricing Matrix

Every home decor project is built from distinct cost layers. Here's what each one typically involves and what drives the price up or down.

Ranges based on projects completed across South and Mid Wales, 2024–2025. Your quote will reflect your exact scope.

Hourly Design Time

Our lead designer charges £65/hour for concept development, moodboard refinement, and supplier liaison. Most single-room projects need 6–14 hours of design time. We log every hour and share the timesheet with you.

"The timesheet transparency was unlike anything I'd experienced with other decorators." — R. Owens, Cardiff

Material Markup Policy

We add a flat 12% handling fee on materials we source. You always see the supplier invoice. If you source materials yourself, we charge no markup — only installation labour. No hidden commissions, no inflated quotes.

What We Never Charge For

Initial phone consultations (up to 20 minutes), digital mood-board previews, and post-project styling adjustments within 14 days are always complimentary. We also don't charge travel within a 25-mile radius of our base.

Scope Guide: What Affects Your Final Number

Two living rooms in the same postcode can cost wildly different amounts. Understanding scope variables lets you control your budget intelligently.

Room Condition

A room needing replastering, rewiring, or damp treatment before decorating adds £800–£3,000+ in prep costs. We'll flag this at the first visit so there are no surprises.

Style Complexity

Minimalist Scandi styling costs less in materials and labour than layered maximalist or period-accurate restoration. We'll map the complexity level in your brief.

Bespoke vs. Ready-Made

Custom joinery, hand-printed wallpaper, or artisan ceramics elevate the result — and the cost. We show both options side by side so you choose consciously.

Timeline Pressure

Rush projects (under 3 weeks) may incur a 15% expedite fee to cover overtime and priority supplier orders. Standard lead time is 4–8 weeks.

The Question Most People Ask First

"Can I set a hard budget and have you work within it?"

Absolutely. Over half our clients begin with a ceiling figure. We reverse-engineer the scope to fit — choosing materials, sourcing strategies, and labour plans that honour your limit. You'll see a line-item estimate before any work begins, and we flag anything that might push the number.

We've delivered beautiful rooms for under £1,500 and managed whole-property transformations above £20,000. The constant is clarity: you always know what you're paying for and why.

Common Pricing Questions

Quick answers to the things clients ask most often during their first call.

Yes — a 30% deposit secures your project slot and covers initial material orders. The remainder is invoiced in stages, never as a single lump sum at the end.

Design pivots within the first week of active work are free. After materials are ordered, changes may incur restocking or redesign fees — we'll quote those before proceeding.

Absolutely. We charge no markup on client-supplied items. We'll advise on suitability and handle installation as normal.

We currently serve Wales and the western border counties of England. For projects outside this area, a travel surcharge applies — quoted upfront.
